Prototypes
Our proposed prototypes are the result of years of consultations with industry leaders and civil society, prototype iterations, and research.
They present concrete examples of what a solution could look like on a model social media platform - in this case, Twitter. They give tech giants the opportunity to honor the pledges they made at the 2021 Generation Equality Forum to combat OGBV on their platforms.
These prototypes are built off the prototypes elaborated by the Web Foundation and Feminist Internet in 2021 and the localisation workshops undertaken by ScrollSafe in Kenya later that year.
Help me Cope
Our Help me Cope feature helps Kenyan survivors of OGBV to handle their safety and mental health better. People can learn about local support options, to better cope with the abuse they experienced online.
Peace Mode
With our Peace Mode feature, affected Kenyans can hide, block and mute accounts that spread discriminatory and abusive content. This way, those affected by online harassment will still be able to use their account for private and professional purposes.
Report in Your Language
Our Report in Your Language feature shall help Kenyans affected by OGBV to report incidents in English and Swahili, because crucial context aspects often get lost in automatic translation.
